Warhammer Dawn of War 2 by Chris Roberson

The story revolves around the Blood Ravens chapter of the Astartes and their recruitment mission on a desert planet traditionally their recruitment grounds of old. In turned out this insignificant planet is now infested with the orks and their new Warboss! This book is a good read with alot of action by almost all kinds of Astartes, displaying their myriad of battle techniques which only of course Astartes can do. Interestingly the story plot did not have anything to do with any other book series published by Black Library, but this is a standalone story based on the latest version of PC game with the same name. I give this book 3.5 stormbolts, as it is good enough for a single book story and enough action to keep the reader interested, though it kind of skipped alot of introductory material and assumed immediately that the reader already has some familiarity with the warhammer genre/universe.

Horus Heresy Second book of series (False Gods) by Graham McNeill

The book is a pivotal section of the great Horus heresy series, why? Oh well nothing much, its just where Horus decided to REBEL against the emperor of mankind, nothing much huh! Hahahahah The subtitle 'The heresy takes root' is very apt and it does justice to the whole tome. McNeill had woven an easy tale of majestic but flawed warriors, couple it with the always present 'remembrancers', people whose only purpose is to record by pictures or recorded words all the exploits of the Astartes, even though such things ultimately lead to their horrible fates. I guess being too close to such warmachines as the Astartes didn't give them too much clue as to the dangers. Have you seen a rabbit or a goat befriending a lion or a wolf lately? Hahahahaha In the story, Horus was actively leading his men, when he came face to face against a monster weilding a deadly weapon capable of actually wounding/killing a primarch! Hmnn let us dwell on that a bit longer, an Astartes is alread

Orders came through!!! Mabuhay ebay! hehe

My orders from the mighty ebay came through! yes! 1 Baneblade 2 Leman Russ Battle tanks 1 squad Grey knights in power armour (1 incinerator) I'd be a busy man in the next few days! hehehe One issue though, I have no paint set yet! wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have to set aside money for it, which is not in the budget for this month! Damnnnnn my painting would have to wait, while I consolidate my funds :)

Painting bug bit me! hahahaha

Well not like the painting stuff warhammer afficionados would want. But the hard core roller-to-the-wall-using-boysen types, hehehehe! Been painting my house lately,I don't have the faintest idea if my strokes or style is correct, but I see it's not that bad once you paint enough over some area your mistakes could be flooded over by paint! hahaha so you can't go wrong with alot of it,but the trick is never to put too much in too short a time, THAT i get easily. Well as for the miniature painting of my soon to rise Grey knight(daemonhunter) army, been waiting for most of my orders to come thru, plus I'm kind of skimping on cash as of late. You see in my eagerness to build my army,I overshoot my funds and ended up buying alot too soon, the stuff that suffered postponement is unfortunately the following: 1 foundation citadel paint set 1 grey knight terminator squad 1 Captain Stern 1 Grey knight Dreadnought 1 Lord Inquisitor Coteaz w/ retinue I would have loved buying them in

Stormbolt levels!!! hehehehe

Well I came up with this quirky excellence levelling/standards for the books I read in the warhammer universe. 1 stormbolt = for those pocketbooks/magazine/graphical book who have the warhammer brand/label story line etc. but it didnt quite give that spine tingling story telling style of the likes of Abnett. So it has the warhammer name but the story telling is bland and no effect whatsoever on my imagination. 2 stormbolts = for those pocketbooks/magazine/graphical book who have the warhammer brand again, but this time is a series and has that central theme, but a little slow on progressing and lots of characters but sparsely interesting in the storytelling area. 3 stormbolts = for those series type reads where the dead segments (the boring ones! hahaha) are sparse and few. Lots of gore but also lots of good story telling, like the Abnett type gods of warhammer universe of old! hehehe. Of course the central theme should always be there. From this level, there are also the general feel of

Horus Heresy First book of series (Horus Rising) by Dan Abnett

Again my informal review series, hehehe. This book first of series is by Dan Abnett, just my second book written by Dan, but I must say Dan is indeed one of those authors that could grip the reader into the feel of the story early on and never lets go! Of the military/war fiction authors, Dan Abnett could very well line up quite nicely with Tom Clancy and Keith Laumer. Reading the book, you'd get the feel of being one of the majestic and fearsome Astartes of the Luna wolves chapter. Like their 'mortal' Imperial guardsmen, the Astartes have been fighting for the Imperium for most of the Imperium's formative years, even well into the conquest years, they are the surgical knife, where the Imperial guard are the chainsaw. What makes this book series really really cool is that the story is told in the eyes of the CHAOS MARINES!!!! ohhh bugger I blew the cue again I get ahead of myself in surprises, hehehehe Well on the book, the seemingly good guys, the heroes, the warriors f

The SAINT by Dan Abnett an informal review

This is a HUGE pocketbook, as such it's really not for your pocket! hahahaha 1000++ pages of pure Imperial guard glory! The story is centered on Commissar Gaunt and his Ghosts, a company of men coming from a destroyed planet where Gaunt formerly served and decided to save as much men as he could. The book is actually a post-tanith scenario, this time they are campaigning for the Sabbat worlds. Whats interesting to note here, is that all throughout this big book, they have faced Chaos marines with overwhelming firepower and mighty allies, but they came out on top ALWAYS! being men with admittedly huge experience fighting but those that they fight? Damnnnn nothing short of miracles do they prevail! I think that's the allure of this whole tome, to me the beauty of regular men fighting great odds and the backdrop story is all about the deeper meaning of existence and FAITH! The title is the Saint right? hahaha is it surprising to find some related matter to religion or faith? I give

HALT!!!!

We'll sad to say,my warhammering would have to do a full stop in the next few months, the earliest that I could see that I would be able to complete my DH army is around late October earliest or November (if my projects kept coming by then). Why? why the HALT?? we'll embarrassing it is to admit,I have overshot my funds! by a significant margin :) enough to force me to do a complete halt and review my timetables. It's not that I needed this army immediately anyway :) besides I have ALOT of painting backlog already with the items i already bought. So there, I would not be fighting battles in the foreseeable future, but rather i would be painting alot. Hopefully trying to participate in painting contests too (hmnn depends if I'm that good already, hehehe). Well being a general could wait, i'd be a painter in the meantime. So stay tuned for my soon to be released pictures of how i'm progressing in the painting and modelling front! hurrah!

Second batch warhammer stuff I bought!

Hmnn, I'm very much torn between going full Daemonhunter army or as allies to my growing Imperial Guard army. I liked the overwhelming armor/firepower of IG,but I also liked the long ranged/CC/psyker/heavy support of the Grey knights, so I decided to buy a small army of Daemonhunters, and go all out later for my IG,if I still have funds! heheheh Here's my newly bought items: 2 Leman Russ Battle tanks (these could be used by DH army for IG ally) 1 Squad of PAGK 1 Squad GK terminators 1 Valkyrie (this is my last item to pruchase for my IG army, which will be at the sidelines for a long time) 1 set Side sponsons for Baneblade 1 set sponson turret w/ HB 50 pcs. Grey dice set 1 Grey knight dreadnought w/ DCCW & incinerator 1 Grey knight dreadnought Right arm psycannon It seems i'm going Daemonhunter army after all! NOT. My IG will take some time to build and make strong, thus I'll take it quite slow to purchase items, weapon upgrades and vehicles. So in making my IG army

TACTICA for Daemon hunter players out there!

Disclaimer: I had not written these tactics,I have just ripped these from somebody who ripped it from various sources, so there! Carefully study it and ADOPT to your playing style, remember a huge percentage of this document are advices for playing probably THE most (challenging?) elitist army in the warhammer universe. As always, the advice I'd heed most when it comes to DH is: Tread wisely and shoot true. Here's the tactica (verbatim): Daemon hunter tactica: There is one big question in 40K: What is it that my army does better than my opponent? INTRO: I went through countless pages and found some amazing information on tactics against several different armies when playing daemon hunters and compiled it on one page and referenced who helped add to this article. Someone had to do it, I was getting tired of seeing the same articles posted time and time again, and I figured it would help me learn a bit, becoming a better player. This thread is open to all sorts of suggestions. If

First batch I bought for IG army

I call this initial purchase batch, as 'Chaos'. Hahahah! 1 Baneblade 5 Ratlings 1 Vindicare Assassin 1 Vostroyan sniper *I bought the Bane, cause I liked the ungodly firepower. Though later on I discovered you could only play these badboys at a tournament play aptly named 'Apocalypse'!!!! whoahhh. My Bane is NOT allowed on normal non-APOC games, understandable,no? hahaha * As for the snipers and assassins, I initially planned for a long range shooty IG army, turns out these sniper/assassin units have baggages a noob like me didn't know, ohhh boyy i really should have read them CODEXES!!! Oh well, my second batch is even weirder than the first, stay tuned!

Local sites (philippines) for mini wargamers

I watched a pre -GT tournament at Robinson's Galleria (May 16). Met some gamers and their armies, and of course their gameplay. The mix of armies are also interesting :) cool painted figures and very very nicely made terrain. Got some useful info too bout sites where they gather: mwph.tk (looks like a mix of ebay, some forums and chat room too! cool site) http://101st-galleria-regulars.blogspot.com/ (informal blog bout the regular gamer group that frequent Galleria, thus the name, hehehe) I have yet to test my army (errr yet to be completed army) on this group of Galleria regulars. I'm waiting for most of the stuff I bought at ebay :( the ones that arrived are not even worth half of the point I needed to field and army. Thus I wait... more waiting...

The rise of the noob general! Origins...

Sounds like an X-men movie, hehehe. Well the warhammer (table top game, similar to Magic cards) bug bit me, and bit me HARD! I've been lurking ebay website shops from here to U.K. endlessly for two straight months now, looking for bargain deals on figures, vehicles and books! I started out reading articles on the Net, and damnn it's aLOT to cover, I frequently visit this site: www.dakkadakka.com (best site for Warhammer gaming IMHO) Learned alot from those guys participating at forums, howto's and tutorial articles. And there I am, I chose Imperial guard to be my army (or so I thought, heheh more on this later). I then proceeded to do research and some downloads later,I decided to purchase some figurines immediately! (mind you, I had not read alot of codexes at this point, just some forums and watched local games played, don't know the rules yet and tournament play rules :) hahahaha) As you will see later,my purchase patterns are noob by design... and so my epic journey moves
