Force of nature, Ondoy Sept 26 (Ketsana)

The typhoon 'Ondoy' (international name 'Ketsana'), visited Manila early saturday Sept 26. When I left the house that late morning (approximately 9:30am), the rains are already strong and there's already a knee-deep flood water,I persevered to go ahead and try to attend my silk screen training, since that is very important to me, plus I thought the storm would slow down or soften up later that day. Boy! was I sooooo WRONG!! The damn storm raged all through that afternoon and dumped what amounted to be 'NOAH torrential rain'-type waters and flooded areas believed to be largely immune to such flood rains and waters. When I returned that night, tried to return. I found the area around my neighborhood under almost 10'-13' of water!!!!! It stunned me to think about the things/stuff,books and papers, that are now possibly underwater and drenched to shreds. Stunned realization gradually turned to anger, when i thought about the incompetence of my government,

My IG starts to be painted! yey!

The fun part is that the mini's are painted by kids, ages 6 and 9, heheheh child labor? Nah, they are definitely enjoying painting my IG mini's too bad I didn't bring all 70 of my models, hehehe They finished painting 14 models in one afternoon! heheheh faster than me in a factor of two! hahahah Granted it's not a pretty first painting project for them, but heck I loved seeing my mini's finally got some paint on them! hahahaha Best of all the kids are loving the exercise :)

WIP Imperator titan 'Deus Vult'

Here are the latest picts of my WIP titan project: (My grandmaster is here again to give size perspective).

Off to Naga! for some honey and painting!

Yeah,'m getting desperate, I'd get help painting my army..and I have a surprise painter that would try her hand painting minis, hehe Good lord guide her hand pleaseeeee these minis are not cheap!!!

Titan updates?

Hmnn ok, I have finished the body proper and the head (fashioned it after my fave characters in WH40K,grey knights), glued it all together, which roughly forms the first major part of the titan, the rest of the major sections are of course the arms and the legs. Anyway, I estimate the titan should be finished by October, of course my schedule of projects permitting.. I'd post some pictures, if I have done the back support and the plasma engines at the back...Err yeah did I say I have finished the first major section at least 90 %? hehehe Danggg it is a monumental project to take, building one of these 'god-machines'! And to think what i'm building now is just the basic form of the titan, if the 'basic' form is done, I still have to graft on foam boards plastics, yet more boards and armor to make it appear all menacing like, more militaristic? So that means I'd reach possibly till December for this monster model to get at least 95 % done, hooo boyyyy

Been reading alot these days

Been reading alot these days, since I could not work on my WIP titan :) Finished 'Titanicus by Dan Abnett' and 'Grey Knights omnibus by Ben Knight', also Descent of Angels and now I'm about to finish 'Fallen Angels' as well.. I enjoyed Titanicus the most, though I'd only give it 4 stormbolter awards. Why? I think the book built up good steam from start to midway, but when it came to the near finish line it faltered in the action area and suddenly and painfully skewed (even halted full STOP!!!) into a condensed style summary of the story instead, I'm quite disappointed really on how it finished but nevertheless being a titan only action packed book, it's still quite a good one. I'm seeing a Dan abnett like pattern here, but im not holding it against him, seems like estimating book length and story flow is not his best strengths, hehehe. About the other books, the grey knight omnibus is a surprisingly good one, I loved it! among all of my space m

Titan updates..

Here are the latest pics of my WIP titan: I included my grey knight grandmaster to illustrate size. Hopefully i'll be finished enough this weekend to start work on the body and head of the titan..

Time for everything

In a famous book, it says there that there should be a time for everything. Time to laugh, time to cry, to be angry and on it goes.. Wouldn't it be great if life came with a manual or guide book something like that, it would tell us what to do in case of sticky situations or crises in life. But the one who made us have so much faith in us, that he gave us a combination of friends, family, financial resources, Internet, some TV exposure and even cinema, and lastly to give us a more flexible and somewhat spicy mix, he gave the mother of all gifts, freewill. There are a few moments or days where a human being would be forced to think thru all he had done, the decisions he made, the actions he took, opinions he expressed and where he stands in the present, than his own birthday. They say we should look at life as a journey and not a destination.. well i'm glad the journey has been interesting to say the least. Hopefully a better and wiser man is getting there along the journey, enj

Titan updates..

Image
My attempt at making a gatling gun (more ominously called Hellstorm) out of PVC pipes: It's six barrels at 10" each, total length of the right arm weapon is around 16" (by the way, i also took the chance to boast my favorite Dan Abnett book so far, hehe--loved Titans! yeah!) I'd be back for updates next couple o days or so..

Titan updates..

Been working on the right arm weapon: A giant gatling gun type weapon aptly called, hellstorm gun/cannons. I'd post pics when finished.

Titan weapons

well I cant be certain on the weapons yet for the fortress module of my titan, it seems the choice boils down to which parts are readily available therefore I'd choose that certain weapon simply because it's parts are available, hehehe. Well somehow this big boy would have enough weapons that's for sure, if finished (when finished) it may have too many weapons for some games! hahaha off to work again..

Titan size approximate confirmation!

Nice day indeed! I just confirmed my titan's size and configuration (hybrid switchable weapons and type, heheheh) from a reliable forum. My measurements are nearly exact and the weapons just needed to be removable too specially the arm weapons. Warhammer fluff and real rulebook rules could be confusing and some people just needed to weed through alot of the extra clutter some confused people generate, but being correct specially bout the dimensions can be done. Be patient, in this make believe world it is a very valuable asset. So I'm off to work on my titan again..

Titanic sizes!!

There's a confusion on the subject of size when talking about titans. There's also a clash on the fluff books and the rulebooks, even a picture of a titan dwarfing a MOUNTAIN is not helping at all! hahahah Well the makers of warhammer wanted to hype up and make the machines god-like, so we could drink up and appreciate the warhammer universe more, but even the game makers are unsure I think. Personally I'm making my titan practical in it's size, since I still wanted to be able to lift it up myself and put it in a table without being ridiculously sized as or to be so funny looking dwarfing other models like ants to a buffalo. I settled for this size: 29" tall, 16" width (fortress module) and 13" depth (fortress module) 4.5" depth for the body proper. With this sizes, the normal two inch soldier is still looking respectable. I do hope the finish product would not look like a squat imperator titan! hehehe On to slicing more cardboard!!..

Titan updates..

Fortress module is almost done, with only the two top turrets unmade. The fortress body is fully built and the forward turrets are done. I had not finalized yet on the weapons for the top turrets I'm currently leaning on turbo lasers, though volcano or quake cannons should be fine too. I'm making the top turrets removable though, to make it 'transform' into a warlord titan if need be. Though i'm not sure if thats allowed? Anyway, I estimate the fortress module to be finished by July's end.

Titan updates..

Before heading for home,I thought I would just post some notes on my project. Well the 'skeletal system' is going nicely,I just constructed the hip and leg assembly from PVC, and right now I'm planning to complete the plans for the 'spinal' and shoulders assembly again from PVC. My changes are that the body is no longer swiveling or moving at all since for me a moving assembly of heavy cardboard would take too much time for me figuring out how to secure it or make it stronger without adding too much trusses inside. Thus I decided to build a more complete skeletal system to support the torso, but I had not figured out how to make it move without compromising strength. Alongside the skeleton system build,I was also trying to finish the fortress assembly, which will be on top of the titan (it will look like it's 'carrying' the fortress on it's shoulders). The said fortress will house 4 titan weapons, two of which is detachable to transform it into anothe

Mad scientist mode..

We'll I passed by Galleria on the way home today, remembered I needed to buy some supplies for the 'titanic' project: 1 Heavy cutter w/ spare blades 1 Compass set 1 ruler (should have been steel ruler, but national's out of stock) 4 pieces of heavy cardboard 15" x 20" I decided to section the construction (errr thats the formal word, thing is I dont have a clue what the heck is the correct process of building a titan, that means I'd be relying on my instincts best guesstimates on the sizes and shapes, hopefully the 'monster' would not collapse like a house of cards) I'd begin by estimating the body assembly, this is I think the most fun to do since the head is THE part I would take huge time giving details and stuff. I want my 'engine' to be the best looking bad ass engine out there. Heheh (oh yeah, confidence is definitely on a high note, better capitalize on that). It will not be my practice to post a blow by blow construction picture

Some pictures of my IG army..

Image
Well I had a temporary creative block,so i had not begun my scratch built titan yet. I instead assembled the rest of my army: Here's Col. 'Tyopaenguin' Straken and his Luna ticks( by the way, this is my IG HQ ): Lascannon section of my heavy weapons team: The above picture had a laptop-weilding guy in the middle, here he is again. By the way he is my master of ordnance or fleet (i had not decided yet,but i'm sure he is somebody important, heheheh): All of my heavy weapons teams. Three Lascannon and two missile launcher teams: I had not planned on painting them yet, since i'm in no hurry to join any games. Too much stress, hahahaha all the damnn rules and 'details'. I entered this hobby knowing full well what i'm getting myself into, and that is the calm I get at painting and assembling them. Reading good books about them. The rest are bonus. Nuff said.

I'd be gone a couple of weeks or so..

Why? Got this itch to create my scratch-built warhammer vehicles and stuff, so I bought six boards of thick illustration board with the intent of using them as materials for my creative itch. Let's see if I still have that childhood magic touch, hehehe What's that??? Hehehe way back when I was really young (say between 8 or ten yrs old) I used to create my own toys like tanks and planes (since my mom is really stingy, there's three of us siblings and one of her, understandable yes?) using only cardboards and shoeboxes, whatever material is available. I very much enjoyed those days my creation lasted, hehehe.. Anyway from what I have seen from forums and the like, there are alot of DIY people out there who tried and succeeded in building tanks and even titans! from materials like cardboards and plasticard (which is expensive for me and hard to come by, thus I preferred illus boards). So now I take a deep breath and plunge in my creative itch and inner child, i'd be back w

Chapter 1.4 The fortress

The plan drawn up on my commander's data slate and projected actively on my holodisplay called for the following: "Two of our three Land raiders would take up positions both forward with the third forming up the middle like a V formation, with most of the three companies of terminators positioning themselves in a reverse Y formation inside the lanes of the landraiders with our captain and three other terminators riding the middle raider. We are to continue riding like that till we hit the fortress location approximately a half a days worth with all the valleys and bad terrain blocking our direct path" I simply said: "Plan looks good Brother-captain Turr". "Yes it is. Inform your company and start moving out, keep in constant vox xontact and report in every 5 kilometers of the target. Watch for hostiles, we have had reports of trouble around the location of the mountain sides we will drive by in the next two hours so stay alert" "Yes Brother-captai

Warhammer 40K dynamics and the choices we make

Recently I noticed most people who are into warhammer 40K has these attributes: a) Obsession: Can one have a 'healthy' obsession? Or any obsession is bad? Immersion in one's hobby or sport is clearly important, but when will it border into obsession. b) Passion: This is normally substituted by individuals upset about the term obsession, they would just state being passionate rather than being obsessed. Though I must admit, something you have paid for dearly should be treasured and nurtured. c) Race obsession: I observed this on players having an inordinate need to always use the same race or army when playing. c-1) It's the only army they own, this is understandable the damnn figures are not that cheap, even the cheapest ones are not cheap! hahahaha c-2) The army agrees with their style of play. Most people are overtly aggressive therefore they choose assault armies like Chaos and Nids or Orkies. While some people are laid back generals preferring to poun

Chapter 1.3 The fortress

As the message played itself for the fourth time, our captain made sure he had not missed any detail out of it, such is one of our strongest traits, caution should be observed in any dealings with daemons. We stopped battle spread in a small clearing, phalanx formation three terminator deep hull down. A muted alarm went up in my holodisplay, the captain wants a private veiled vox tunnel opened, I open one of my channels and he immediately acknowledged. "Brother Thorm, I have some thoughts we need to run through.." he said. With my captain, "..some thoughts.." immediately followed by "..run through.." usually means mission caution and some quick battle plan changes, closely followed by trouble. I simply responded "Let me hear it Sir, and I would do my best to share insight". "Our astropath included a message note along with our latest communications that i initially filtered from you because I needed some more time to analyze it and make sur

Chapter 1.2 The fortress

As the second in command of the expedition I also received the raw report and also a surprising turn as to how it actually was received, it sent a shiver through my well trained and blessed spine that I dare not let my captain notice: Our astropath mistress Liennae told of the event that transpired on our home fortress at Titan. The actual report was received in a horrific fashion by our astropaths and our psychic choir, right after which they're burned alive and left with a dire message. The very message was a upside down pentagram symbol on top of the emperor's aquila and with a spoken message from the gravely wounded head astropath's mouth: "Your emperor shall on bloody knee's kneel!!!..." It is a brazen message of taunt and a challenge, the result of which this expedition was undertaken. The last plotted origin of the psychic burst was from this sector largely un surveyed by the significantly large Imperial surveyors fleets.

Landraider improvements update

Image
Well I just bought these spanking new doors for my Landraider, from a member of a local warhammer 40K group, 100 Php for the three doors! sweet! Left side view: Right side view: I had not decided on the camo scheme for the LR yet,but I have decided on getting psycannon upgrade and smoke, now where do i find those..

Hail Michael Jackson! Artist worthy of the term.

Let's give our respects to one of the truly great artist of our time. It is in my generation when Michael Jackson reached his peak, watching him perform even thru the tube always gives one a sense of wonder watching a great artist make his moves and his voice delivers with such beauty, unmistakeably his legacy should be those music he made. I'd want to hear nothing else but respect to the man. May the emperor grant him peace.

Transformers 2 Revenge that had fallen! hehehehe

Heyyyyyy, about my last post, if you had observed,I merely painted over the old paints: a) For one thing, I don't know any safe paint stripping technique yet for plastic models. b) I got lazy, I didn't even try scraping it off, we'll I did think about it.but I saw it also damages the plastic, so nevermind I just sprayed over it. Hmnnn getting back to my title. How about that Transformer 2 movie??!!!! Yeahhhhhh!!! I really think Michael Bay redeemed himself quite a bit on this sequel, but alot of those "revolving" Head dizzying shots are still there, maybe he thought it adds to the drama, to me it's just freaking irritating. Oh well, the fight scenes rock, definitely worth watching. For a movie this size and this long (I think it's 2:45 hrs), I say this is 5 stormbolter levels!!! Yeah Autobots assault!!!!!

Landraider evolution

Image
Here's how my landraider bought from ebay came to life! hehehe First, here's how she looks like when she arrived: Seeing this, now I felt good bout my painting! hahahaha << Yabang! lolz We'll here's how she 'evolved' : Primed with Chaos black paint (I know it's not thorough here, but i corrected that) Next up, I gave it white on the top armor part and silver on the steel 'bracket' sourrounding the track sections: Here's the front view Still WIP,I would work on the barrels and the camo next, so check it out soon..

Baneblade 'repaired' pics

Image
Here's the 'repaired' look of my bane: Side view showing her bolter at the back sponson and flamer up front Top view, showing both the bolters on back sponsons and flamers up front: Next? Is it advisable to varnish the tank?

Chapter 1.1 The fortress

Just a kilometer into the direction of the fortress. Captain ordered a halt to our advance to reassess our vox problems, electrical storm had eased out and Klion was ordered to power up our vox caster. Astropaths inform our battle barge "Shinano" currently orbiting Earthas, that an initial drone sent a decade ago on this system was mysteriously taken out of commision right after filing a bizarre report and a warning, a daemonic warning

Chapter 1 The fortress

I remembered the day we landed on this mudhole of a planet, it's raining that day, vision is down to 10meters, sensor range cannot determine obstacles due to a electrical storms of unknown origin that is constantly firing off in random places. It is not simply like a lightning on Old Terra, this storm affects psychic auras too as welll as normally shielded equipments, we suspect it is warp-charged and yet to be determined how to stop it if it all possible. Thus we advanced slowly thru the muck and the rain, our best estimate of where we are is that we are dropped 20 kilometers from our objective, a fortress we have to defend and retrieve a relic of which purpose our captain is not privy to. In the group, we are about a full thirty squads of terminators, Grey knight terminators. I guess that should have given me an idea of the importance of this relic we are to retrieve, since you don't usually send this many terminators on a single assignment, it is unprecedented. And yet here

Plots for my Grey knights short stories

a) Lone Grey knight sent to investigate a mysterious radio source emanating from a long abandoned imperial fortress planet. b) A lone grey knight experiencing amnesia on an orc infested human colonial world. c) Wayward warp travel placed a squad of grey knights on a human planet trapped in the time of cowboys and indians. d) Love story between a grey knight and a eldar priestess (though i don't know if eldars have priestesses--hahahah) e) Last days of a fortress held by Grey knights, during a siege by a host of a thousand daemons. These are some of the possible angles i'm studying to layout my stories, i don't know how plots are to be arranged yet or if the stories would hold thru, hehehe. Anyway still brainstorming on the title, if the plot is already chosen of course.

Tank repair day!

We'll if i'm not such an impatient idiot i would not have to have this tank repair day,but.... wallowing on regrets are for the weak of mind. So let's move on... I mistakenly: a) Placed all my heavy bolters on one side of my tank! (wTF!!!!) b) Placed one of my flamers upside-down! (Stone the fuc*%&^*^!!!) c) Permanently glued one of my lascannon turrets (mother&$^%*&(@(@) And these are just my MAJOR screws on my baneblade (and you'd think i would at least be cautious judging by the price of this mammoth tank! wrong!@ hahahahah) I decided today I would: a) Carve up my sponsons to free one each of the flamer(one glued upside down!) and one of the 'eavybolters. this way I would solve two problems with one sweep. DONE. b) I saw my lasgun at the back of the main turret is gone/broken. So I simply installed the cargo bin, this covered the chopped up lasgun, prob solved. DONE. c) Repainted the parts of the sponsons that are obviously damaged by my Xacto knife.

Another 'army' picture, hehehe

Image
I'm mighty proud of my GK termies, here they are again: I experimented with some japanese kanji on the shoulder plates, cool! huh.

My HUGE!!!! Grey knight army, hehehe

Image
Army? where?????? hahahaha! We'll if you would count a grandmaster and his retinue, plus a lone GK dreadnought an army, yeah I do have an army! hehehe Here's a pic of my GK 'army': I have no plans for the bases yet, I guess i'd simply color them in my IG army camo scheme, haven't made up my mind yet.

Tank conversions and my GK grandmaster :)

Image
Trying my hand on tank conversions, my photo's here are the current Baneblade painted via madman, hehehe. And the latest creation, my new Leman russ eradicator! yey! here are the pics for your viewing pleasure: The one on the left is the eradicator of course (the mountain of steel on the right is of course the bane! hahaha): Next here is my grandmaster w/ a converted psycannon! yessss amateur hands rules! hehehe: Grandmaster Attila surveying his tanks...

Been busy with Grey knight painting

Reason why i had not posted anything here yet is that i'm trying my darnest to paint my grey knights well, i don't want good enough i wanted it to come out really well! So I will post them pictures when the time is right. Hopefully the knights will come out as awesome as they are in boxed set pictures and pocketbooks! heheheh Wish me luck and skill! heheheh and make my hands worthy painting the greys..

Baneblade photo shoot! updates!

Image
Well I added silver on the guns, some barrels on the Russes and the spikes at bane's front armor. Next should be weathering, though I'd like to delay that as long as possible and practice first on the Russes, hehehe. Nuff said, here are the pics: Here are the bane's retinue, hehehe (i wish it's possible, structure point damage can be spread and bane's are allowed to allocate on Russes, hahahaha) . Nothing much had changed cept the silver on the barrels are repainted. Next i'd also try painting the gunner dude and the GK logo on top of the dragon shadow near the bane's front.

Updates on my baneblade and company painting madness!

Image
I blackened most of the weapons and added more layers to the white parts. Next update some silver should be visible :) My next update may also have some weathering too, but I don't really know what the heck am i doing here so... Maybe I'd research a bit on that weathering stuff and hopefully the tanks would come out as weathered and not looking like a nurgle infested tank (hmnn maybe they already do right now! hahahahaha).

Some humor, never hurts the Crusade! hehehe

Image
Well I'm browsing dakkadakka.com forums bout painting ( I think ). Then I came up on this funny( though really cool-looking mother*^&^*@#@) looking pic, the guy swears this is used in an actual game: He called it: orkamus prime! hahahaha dangggg cool conversion man.

Some more pics, of the tanks :)

Image
I made up the camo scheme, i dont know if there are similar patterns out there, any way this is still not finished, I estimate three more passes each of black, bolt gun silver (or mithril) and then I'd try weathering (hahahah I think i'm making it uglier with all my mad scientist color schemes):

Warning: Amateur painting photos ahead, might hurt your eyes! lolz

Image
Hehehe, I just could not help it but try my hand at painting my tank, heck it's mine so I could experiment, right? Well I dont care either if it's pretty or artistic, what the heck they're machines of WAR so it's not supposed to be pretty. Well here are the pics (my first time to paint, so be kind please, hehehe): some of my baneblade's friends(this is most of my army, missing in the pic is a Valk and a squad of GK termies--Thats my army for now, no HQ yet): In the pic is my mostly unpainted army, hehehe. Butt ugly camo,i know! lolz

Some interesting W40K sites

I was searching for a..... errr something important. When I came up with this site instead, it's a funny description of the Warhammer universe, game hobby and everything under the warhammer sun! I dare anyone to find a funnier W40K site! hahahaha Here's the link: http://1d4chan.org/wiki/Warhammer_40,000

Happy Independence Day Philippines!

Yes, it is the independence day of the Philippines. May more and more filipinos recognize the importance of belonging to a proud country of resilient and resourceful heroes. May we further be blessed in making our own way on this world, Filipinos! land of proud and life-surviving free men and women. Mabuhay!

Just got some inexpensive paints and a Russ!!!! yeah!

Well I had not resisted the urge, the urge to paint :) sooooo I bought around 8 pots of inexpensive acrylic paints, hehehe I dont really know how to mix and match paints yet, so I just chose colors most likely to be used like metallic silver and gold. Some colors I think would most likely serve as colors for the troops like deep red or dark blue. Anyways I'd post my progress as soon as I make time for the actual painting session :) What else, I have bought a second hand Leman russ battle tank! yeah! bringing a total of three Russes for me, hehehe a squad of battle tanks.

My Valkyrie and GK terminators arrived!!!

Haha!! My ordered IG Valkyrie and a squad of Grey Knight Terminators have just been liberated from the post office, they actually arrived last week! Yehey!!! heheheeh Im soo excited looking at them awesome boxes, the majestic Valkyrie and the tough as old truck tire GK terminators in their boxes just waiting for me to liberate them... Alas I realized, it is not time yet. I do not have the equipment to give them proper worship, errrr I do not have paints yet. Plus all the other stuff I need like magnets for the Valk and some equips like a Magnifying glass for the painting stuff. Oh well, decision is that my Valk and the termies will stay boxed for now, while I try and get some equips as soon as I can.

Amateur story on my GK army, hehehe

I've been mulling over the possibility of writing short stories :) heheheh. Don't know if it's a good time spent on my part, but the lack of other sources than Black library. Prompted me to give it a try. Anyway who would give a rat's ass if it's good or not right? hehehe I'd try writing a short story, probably only some 50 or so pages, err maybe shorter. Anyways, it would cover GK's and the mighty machines of IG. Stay tuned on this, might unto something here, hehehe.

Grey knights and their baggages

Why the title? Been around forums and most of the opinion against GK is their: a) Low unit count = Yes,I see this as a minus initially, but the reason could be is that the GK are like their SM brothers, ELITEs! they have quality in their people sometimes more refined than their already elite SM brothers. In battle I see them held back and shooting for all their worth till they run down the numbers and run them down some more. b) low AT skillz = Yes, I knew this when I see they have little Lascannon weapons! hehehe. Therefore the GK army needed dreads and landraiders, the more the merrier. Also stack up on psycannons as well, we needed those long range shooty weapons, again the MORE the merrier!! WAGGHHHHH (errr, Ahermnnn definitely not a GK yell! hahahahaha) c) low close combat skillz = this I needed battle field confirmation, it's a toss coin. Since GK's are elite SM units, i'd expect good CC skills there, plus they have those awesome halberds which look really nasty in CC.

Baneblade shots, primed for battle!

Image
Just want to show off my baneblade "Devil's Advocate", for the Emperor!!!

Additional units for my IG =I= GK army

Just bought: 1 Land raider (terminus?) About to buy: 1 Leman Russ battle tank My army seems to be shaping up good, just need to slowdown for a while and soak up some more fluff, hehehehe. I love my IG! hehehe of course reinforced by the mighty Grey Knights! yessss!!!!!! Oh well, long time to come if my army were to do battle with anyone, since my spending officially stops with the acquisition of the Leman Russ. thats it. My next buying stint would be sometime in November or December (extra money willing, hehehe).

Reading up on codexes and more books! hehehe

Well I'm up reading on codexes and more warhammer books: Codexes I read so far, though I have yet to apply the knowledge :) : 1) Daemonhunters 3e 2) Imperial Guard 5e 3) Warhammer rulebook 5e Book I'm reading now? It's "Brothers of the snake" by Dan Abnett, I'll post my informal review once I'm done. So far I'm 25% into the book,it's shaping up to be a 3 stormbolter type, but it might get better, after all it's an Abnett novel, hehehe.

Current army list: My IG Beasts

1 baneblade w/ 4 sponson (plus turret w/ 4 lascannons) 2x twin-linked heavy bolter,2x twin-linked heavy flamer, autocannon, heavy stubber, demolisher cannon and lastly las pistol. Of course the battle cannon (or is it mega battle cannon?) 2 Leman Russ battle tanks each with two sponsons w/ heavy bolter and plus one heavy bolter at hull 1 GK Dreadnought w/ psycannon and missile launcher 1 squad GK w/ power armor 1 squad GK terminators 1 squad ratlings 1 vindicare assassin 1 vostroyan assassin Thats it :) hehehe I have yet to buy a troop unit and a HQ unit for my IG army, plus a chimera and probably one more Valk. Money-wise willing, hehehe.

Naming my baneblade? are you insane?

Yes I did. His name is "Devil's Advocate", hehehehe.

Baneblade built in 3 days! nyahahahaha

Well I received my baneblade order from an ebay seller, and excitedly built it. Being a novice modeler I made some errors on the sponsons and the weapons: a) I placed the twinlinked bolters and flamers without glue! stupid! b) I placed BOTH the bolters on one side! and consequently the flamers on the other. c) I placed one of the flamers the wrong way, now it's lower than it's brother! Like firing your gun with the handle higher than the barrel, get it? Duh Damnn, its the most expensive piece of my IG army, cant just throw the damn thing, warts and all, it looks awesome, hehehe. Took me three days work on it,including putting primer. Well thats just about most of the work I could put in it. Cant buy the paint set yet :)

Warhammer Dawn of War 2 by Chris Roberson

The story revolves around the Blood Ravens chapter of the Astartes and their recruitment mission on a desert planet traditionally their recruitment grounds of old. In turned out this insignificant planet is now infested with the orks and their new Warboss! This book is a good read with alot of action by almost all kinds of Astartes, displaying their myriad of battle techniques which only of course Astartes can do. Interestingly the story plot did not have anything to do with any other book series published by Black Library, but this is a standalone story based on the latest version of PC game with the same name. I give this book 3.5 stormbolts, as it is good enough for a single book story and enough action to keep the reader interested, though it kind of skipped alot of introductory material and assumed immediately that the reader already has some familiarity with the warhammer genre/universe.

Horus Heresy Second book of series (False Gods) by Graham McNeill

The book is a pivotal section of the great Horus heresy series, why? Oh well nothing much, its just where Horus decided to REBEL against the emperor of mankind, nothing much huh! Hahahahah The subtitle 'The heresy takes root' is very apt and it does justice to the whole tome. McNeill had woven an easy tale of majestic but flawed warriors, couple it with the always present 'remembrancers', people whose only purpose is to record by pictures or recorded words all the exploits of the Astartes, even though such things ultimately lead to their horrible fates. I guess being too close to such warmachines as the Astartes didn't give them too much clue as to the dangers. Have you seen a rabbit or a goat befriending a lion or a wolf lately? Hahahahaha In the story, Horus was actively leading his men, when he came face to face against a monster weilding a deadly weapon capable of actually wounding/killing a primarch! Hmnn let us dwell on that a bit longer, an Astartes is alread

Orders came through!!! Mabuhay ebay! hehe

My orders from the mighty ebay came through! yes! 1 Baneblade 2 Leman Russ Battle tanks 1 squad Grey knights in power armour (1 incinerator) I'd be a busy man in the next few days! hehehe One issue though, I have no paint set yet! wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I have to set aside money for it, which is not in the budget for this month! Damnnnnn my painting would have to wait, while I consolidate my funds :)

Painting bug bit me! hahahaha

Well not like the painting stuff warhammer afficionados would want. But the hard core roller-to-the-wall-using-boysen types, hehehehe! Been painting my house lately,I don't have the faintest idea if my strokes or style is correct, but I see it's not that bad once you paint enough over some area your mistakes could be flooded over by paint! hahaha so you can't go wrong with alot of it,but the trick is never to put too much in too short a time, THAT i get easily. Well as for the miniature painting of my soon to rise Grey knight(daemonhunter) army, been waiting for most of my orders to come thru, plus I'm kind of skimping on cash as of late. You see in my eagerness to build my army,I overshoot my funds and ended up buying alot too soon, the stuff that suffered postponement is unfortunately the following: 1 foundation citadel paint set 1 grey knight terminator squad 1 Captain Stern 1 Grey knight Dreadnought 1 Lord Inquisitor Coteaz w/ retinue I would have loved buying them in

Stormbolt levels!!! hehehehe

Well I came up with this quirky excellence levelling/standards for the books I read in the warhammer universe. 1 stormbolt = for those pocketbooks/magazine/graphical book who have the warhammer brand/label story line etc. but it didnt quite give that spine tingling story telling style of the likes of Abnett. So it has the warhammer name but the story telling is bland and no effect whatsoever on my imagination. 2 stormbolts = for those pocketbooks/magazine/graphical book who have the warhammer brand again, but this time is a series and has that central theme, but a little slow on progressing and lots of characters but sparsely interesting in the storytelling area. 3 stormbolts = for those series type reads where the dead segments (the boring ones! hahaha) are sparse and few. Lots of gore but also lots of good story telling, like the Abnett type gods of warhammer universe of old! hehehe. Of course the central theme should always be there. From this level, there are also the general feel of

Horus Heresy First book of series (Horus Rising) by Dan Abnett

Again my informal review series, hehehe. This book first of series is by Dan Abnett, just my second book written by Dan, but I must say Dan is indeed one of those authors that could grip the reader into the feel of the story early on and never lets go! Of the military/war fiction authors, Dan Abnett could very well line up quite nicely with Tom Clancy and Keith Laumer. Reading the book, you'd get the feel of being one of the majestic and fearsome Astartes of the Luna wolves chapter. Like their 'mortal' Imperial guardsmen, the Astartes have been fighting for the Imperium for most of the Imperium's formative years, even well into the conquest years, they are the surgical knife, where the Imperial guard are the chainsaw. What makes this book series really really cool is that the story is told in the eyes of the CHAOS MARINES!!!! ohhh bugger I blew the cue again I get ahead of myself in surprises, hehehehe Well on the book, the seemingly good guys, the heroes, the warriors f

The SAINT by Dan Abnett an informal review

This is a HUGE pocketbook, as such it's really not for your pocket! hahahaha 1000++ pages of pure Imperial guard glory! The story is centered on Commissar Gaunt and his Ghosts, a company of men coming from a destroyed planet where Gaunt formerly served and decided to save as much men as he could. The book is actually a post-tanith scenario, this time they are campaigning for the Sabbat worlds. Whats interesting to note here, is that all throughout this big book, they have faced Chaos marines with overwhelming firepower and mighty allies, but they came out on top ALWAYS! being men with admittedly huge experience fighting but those that they fight? Damnnnn nothing short of miracles do they prevail! I think that's the allure of this whole tome, to me the beauty of regular men fighting great odds and the backdrop story is all about the deeper meaning of existence and FAITH! The title is the Saint right? hahaha is it surprising to find some related matter to religion or faith? I give

HALT!!!!

We'll sad to say,my warhammering would have to do a full stop in the next few months, the earliest that I could see that I would be able to complete my DH army is around late October earliest or November (if my projects kept coming by then). Why? why the HALT?? we'll embarrassing it is to admit,I have overshot my funds! by a significant margin :) enough to force me to do a complete halt and review my timetables. It's not that I needed this army immediately anyway :) besides I have ALOT of painting backlog already with the items i already bought. So there, I would not be fighting battles in the foreseeable future, but rather i would be painting alot. Hopefully trying to participate in painting contests too (hmnn depends if I'm that good already, hehehe). Well being a general could wait, i'd be a painter in the meantime. So stay tuned for my soon to be released pictures of how i'm progressing in the painting and modelling front! hurrah!

Second batch warhammer stuff I bought!

Hmnn, I'm very much torn between going full Daemonhunter army or as allies to my growing Imperial Guard army. I liked the overwhelming armor/firepower of IG,but I also liked the long ranged/CC/psyker/heavy support of the Grey knights, so I decided to buy a small army of Daemonhunters, and go all out later for my IG,if I still have funds! heheheh Here's my newly bought items: 2 Leman Russ Battle tanks (these could be used by DH army for IG ally) 1 Squad of PAGK 1 Squad GK terminators 1 Valkyrie (this is my last item to pruchase for my IG army, which will be at the sidelines for a long time) 1 set Side sponsons for Baneblade 1 set sponson turret w/ HB 50 pcs. Grey dice set 1 Grey knight dreadnought w/ DCCW & incinerator 1 Grey knight dreadnought Right arm psycannon It seems i'm going Daemonhunter army after all! NOT. My IG will take some time to build and make strong, thus I'll take it quite slow to purchase items, weapon upgrades and vehicles. So in making my IG army

TACTICA for Daemon hunter players out there!

Disclaimer: I had not written these tactics,I have just ripped these from somebody who ripped it from various sources, so there! Carefully study it and ADOPT to your playing style, remember a huge percentage of this document are advices for playing probably THE most (challenging?) elitist army in the warhammer universe. As always, the advice I'd heed most when it comes to DH is: Tread wisely and shoot true. Here's the tactica (verbatim): Daemon hunter tactica: There is one big question in 40K: What is it that my army does better than my opponent? INTRO: I went through countless pages and found some amazing information on tactics against several different armies when playing daemon hunters and compiled it on one page and referenced who helped add to this article. Someone had to do it, I was getting tired of seeing the same articles posted time and time again, and I figured it would help me learn a bit, becoming a better player. This thread is open to all sorts of suggestions. If
