Titan size approximate confirmation!

Nice day indeed! I just confirmed my titan's size and configuration (hybrid switchable weapons and type, heheheh) from a reliable forum. My measurements are nearly exact and the weapons just needed to be removable too specially the arm weapons. Warhammer fluff and real rulebook rules could be confusing and some people just needed to weed through alot of the extra clutter some confused people generate, but being correct specially bout the dimensions can be done. Be patient, in this make believe world it is a very valuable asset. So I'm off to work on my titan again..

Titanic sizes!!

There's a confusion on the subject of size when talking about titans. There's also a clash on the fluff books and the rulebooks, even a picture of a titan dwarfing a MOUNTAIN is not helping at all! hahahah Well the makers of warhammer wanted to hype up and make the machines god-like, so we could drink up and appreciate the warhammer universe more, but even the game makers are unsure I think. Personally I'm making my titan practical in it's size, since I still wanted to be able to lift it up myself and put it in a table without being ridiculously sized as or to be so funny looking dwarfing other models like ants to a buffalo. I settled for this size: 29" tall, 16" width (fortress module) and 13" depth (fortress module) 4.5" depth for the body proper. With this sizes, the normal two inch soldier is still looking respectable. I do hope the finish product would not look like a squat imperator titan! hehehe On to slicing more cardboard!!..

Titan updates..

Fortress module is almost done, with only the two top turrets unmade. The fortress body is fully built and the forward turrets are done. I had not finalized yet on the weapons for the top turrets I'm currently leaning on turbo lasers, though volcano or quake cannons should be fine too. I'm making the top turrets removable though, to make it 'transform' into a warlord titan if need be. Though i'm not sure if thats allowed? Anyway, I estimate the fortress module to be finished by July's end.

Titan updates..

Before heading for home,I thought I would just post some notes on my project. Well the 'skeletal system' is going nicely,I just constructed the hip and leg assembly from PVC, and right now I'm planning to complete the plans for the 'spinal' and shoulders assembly again from PVC. My changes are that the body is no longer swiveling or moving at all since for me a moving assembly of heavy cardboard would take too much time for me figuring out how to secure it or make it stronger without adding too much trusses inside. Thus I decided to build a more complete skeletal system to support the torso, but I had not figured out how to make it move without compromising strength. Alongside the skeleton system build,I was also trying to finish the fortress assembly, which will be on top of the titan (it will look like it's 'carrying' the fortress on it's shoulders). The said fortress will house 4 titan weapons, two of which is detachable to transform it into anothe

Mad scientist mode..

We'll I passed by Galleria on the way home today, remembered I needed to buy some supplies for the 'titanic' project: 1 Heavy cutter w/ spare blades 1 Compass set 1 ruler (should have been steel ruler, but national's out of stock) 4 pieces of heavy cardboard 15" x 20" I decided to section the construction (errr thats the formal word, thing is I dont have a clue what the heck is the correct process of building a titan, that means I'd be relying on my instincts best guesstimates on the sizes and shapes, hopefully the 'monster' would not collapse like a house of cards) I'd begin by estimating the body assembly, this is I think the most fun to do since the head is THE part I would take huge time giving details and stuff. I want my 'engine' to be the best looking bad ass engine out there. Heheh (oh yeah, confidence is definitely on a high note, better capitalize on that). It will not be my practice to post a blow by blow construction picture

Some pictures of my IG army..

Well I had a temporary creative block,so i had not begun my scratch built titan yet. I instead assembled the rest of my army: Here's Col. 'Tyopaenguin' Straken and his Luna ticks( by the way, this is my IG HQ ): Lascannon section of my heavy weapons team: The above picture had a laptop-weilding guy in the middle, here he is again. By the way he is my master of ordnance or fleet (i had not decided yet,but i'm sure he is somebody important, heheheh): All of my heavy weapons teams. Three Lascannon and two missile launcher teams: I had not planned on painting them yet, since i'm in no hurry to join any games. Too much stress, hahahaha all the damnn rules and 'details'. I entered this hobby knowing full well what i'm getting myself into, and that is the calm I get at painting and assembling them. Reading good books about them. The rest are bonus. Nuff said.

I'd be gone a couple of weeks or so..

Why? Got this itch to create my scratch-built warhammer vehicles and stuff, so I bought six boards of thick illustration board with the intent of using them as materials for my creative itch. Let's see if I still have that childhood magic touch, hehehe What's that??? Hehehe way back when I was really young (say between 8 or ten yrs old) I used to create my own toys like tanks and planes (since my mom is really stingy, there's three of us siblings and one of her, understandable yes?) using only cardboards and shoeboxes, whatever material is available. I very much enjoyed those days my creation lasted, hehehe.. Anyway from what I have seen from forums and the like, there are alot of DIY people out there who tried and succeeded in building tanks and even titans! from materials like cardboards and plasticard (which is expensive for me and hard to come by, thus I preferred illus boards). So now I take a deep breath and plunge in my creative itch and inner child, i'd be back w

Chapter 1.4 The fortress

The plan drawn up on my commander's data slate and projected actively on my holodisplay called for the following: "Two of our three Land raiders would take up positions both forward with the third forming up the middle like a V formation, with most of the three companies of terminators positioning themselves in a reverse Y formation inside the lanes of the landraiders with our captain and three other terminators riding the middle raider. We are to continue riding like that till we hit the fortress location approximately a half a days worth with all the valleys and bad terrain blocking our direct path" I simply said: "Plan looks good Brother-captain Turr". "Yes it is. Inform your company and start moving out, keep in constant vox xontact and report in every 5 kilometers of the target. Watch for hostiles, we have had reports of trouble around the location of the mountain sides we will drive by in the next two hours so stay alert" "Yes Brother-captai

Warhammer 40K dynamics and the choices we make

Recently I noticed most people who are into warhammer 40K has these attributes: a) Obsession: Can one have a 'healthy' obsession? Or any obsession is bad? Immersion in one's hobby or sport is clearly important, but when will it border into obsession. b) Passion: This is normally substituted by individuals upset about the term obsession, they would just state being passionate rather than being obsessed. Though I must admit, something you have paid for dearly should be treasured and nurtured. c) Race obsession: I observed this on players having an inordinate need to always use the same race or army when playing. c-1) It's the only army they own, this is understandable the damnn figures are not that cheap, even the cheapest ones are not cheap! hahahaha c-2) The army agrees with their style of play. Most people are overtly aggressive therefore they choose assault armies like Chaos and Nids or Orkies. While some people are laid back generals preferring to poun

Chapter 1.3 The fortress

As the message played itself for the fourth time, our captain made sure he had not missed any detail out of it, such is one of our strongest traits, caution should be observed in any dealings with daemons. We stopped battle spread in a small clearing, phalanx formation three terminator deep hull down. A muted alarm went up in my holodisplay, the captain wants a private veiled vox tunnel opened, I open one of my channels and he immediately acknowledged. "Brother Thorm, I have some thoughts we need to run through.." he said. With my captain, "..some thoughts.." immediately followed by "..run through.." usually means mission caution and some quick battle plan changes, closely followed by trouble. I simply responded "Let me hear it Sir, and I would do my best to share insight". "Our astropath included a message note along with our latest communications that i initially filtered from you because I needed some more time to analyze it and make sur

Chapter 1.2 The fortress

As the second in command of the expedition I also received the raw report and also a surprising turn as to how it actually was received, it sent a shiver through my well trained and blessed spine that I dare not let my captain notice: Our astropath mistress Liennae told of the event that transpired on our home fortress at Titan. The actual report was received in a horrific fashion by our astropaths and our psychic choir, right after which they're burned alive and left with a dire message. The very message was a upside down pentagram symbol on top of the emperor's aquila and with a spoken message from the gravely wounded head astropath's mouth: "Your emperor shall on bloody knee's kneel!!!..." It is a brazen message of taunt and a challenge, the result of which this expedition was undertaken. The last plotted origin of the psychic burst was from this sector largely un surveyed by the significantly large Imperial surveyors fleets.
