Again my informal review series, hehehe. This book first of series is by Dan Abnett, just my second book written by Dan, but I must say Dan is indeed one of those authors that could grip the reader into the feel of the story early on and never lets go! Of the military/war fiction authors, Dan Abnett could very well line up quite nicely with Tom Clancy and Keith Laumer. Reading the book, you'd get the feel of being one of the majestic and fearsome Astartes of the Luna wolves chapter. Like their 'mortal' Imperial guardsmen, the Astartes have been fighting for the Imperium for most of the Imperium's formative years, even well into the conquest years, they are the surgical knife, where the Imperial guard are the chainsaw.
